2023 Mother & Baby Kangaroo 2oz .9999 Gold/Silver Bullion Coin

  We are excited to release this 2oz gold bullion coin featuring a mother and baby kangaroo.

This 2oz coin is the first gold coin in the Mother & Baby series by The Perth Mint.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.99% pure gold, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 and has a mintage of 5,000.

DESIGN

  The coin portrays an image of a kangaroo and its joey in scrubland. Included in the design are radial lines suggestive of the setting sun, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

The coin bears The Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse, featuring the Jody Clark effigy supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty’s reign. As well as radial lines, the obverse also includes the coin’s weight, purity, monetary denomination and 2023 year-date.

Each coin’s reverse includes a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.

ABOUT THE PERTH MINT

  Established on 20 June 1899, two years before Australia’s Federation in 1901,  was the last of three Australian colonial branches of the United Kingdom ‘s Royal Mint (after the now-defunct Sydney Mint and Melbourne Mint) intended to refine gold from the gold rushes and to mint gold sovereigns and half-sovereigns for the British Empire.
