Description

Description

This spectacular $100 gold high relief coin is the sixth coin released in the American Liberty series, coins with contemporary depictions of Liberty. Minted in one troy ounce of .9999 pure gold this coin has a face value of $100, twice the amount of any other U.S. gold coin.

Coins in the American Liberty series have extremely limited mintages and special high relief designs giving them a three-dimensional appearance. The technology used to strike these coins was simply not available only a decade ago! These are the best of the best most advance gold coins produced by the U.S. Mint.

Design

The extremely detailed design features a bristlecone pine, a species native to California, Nevada, and Utah, thought to be the oldest living organisms on Earth, living up to 5,000 years. Bristlecone pines grow in places where other plants cannot and are often the species first to repopulate the land after cataclysmic changes, such as a lava run or glacial runoff.

The equally impressive reverse design depicts a young bald eagle standing on a rocky outcropping moments before it takes flight.

Low Mintage

Low mintage and superb eye appeal are key components of coins collecting. Only 12,500 coins were minted at West Point and only 3,125 coins have been designated as Advance Releases by the U.S. Mint.

Edmund C. Moy and David Ryder Signatures

This piece is signed by the highest-ranking U.S. Mint officials Edmund C. Moy, the 38th Director and David J Ryder, 34th and 39th Director of the U.S. Mint. These men brought many exciting modern coins to the marketplace, greatly enhancing the tradition of U.S. coin collecting with their leadership of the world’s premier manufacturer of coins. The Moy and Ryder signatures are the best known in all numismatics and appear together exclusively on NGC certified Mint Director’s Series coins.
