Additionally, the image of the present Mexican Coat of Arms is surrounded by all of Mexico’s ancient coats of arms.
The obverse features the beautiful Angel of Independence superimposed on the famous Mexican volcanoes of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. The Angel of Independence is an important historical landmark as it was built in 1910 to commemorate the beginning of Mexico’s War of Independence. The design has been featured on the obverse design since 1996. Lastly, the obverse face features the weight, purity, and year of issue on this coin.
